As I looked around the class, it became clear to me that some people just should not be in Sports Medicine. Everyone in attendance was either a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Aide, Athletic Trainer, Doctor, or Personal Trainer. The different shapes and sizes of the people in the class varied, greatly. Now I am not the Ultimate Male. I could stand to lose a couple pounds (~10), grow a couple of inches (I'm 5'7" and change), and I need a nice tan (I'm olive skinned, Viva Italia!). Compared to most of the people in the class, I was a Roman God, see how I stuck with the Italian theme?

Scary Health Providers
This past Saturday I took a Functional Exercise Training class through the International Weightlifting Association, presented by Chris Kolba PHD, MHS, PT, CSCS CWT of D1 Sports Training Therapy (Yes I am plugging them because this guy was awesome.) So the class itself was pretty standard, with the lecture being very interesting and portions of the lab being interesting, while the other parts were really just review of things I already do myself or with my athletes. Which reminds me I really should start incorporating more of my Personal Training with my Rehabilitation Training, and vice versa of course. Chris really knows his stuff and I found myself really listening to him because 1) he was able to perform the activities he described, 2) looked like he was a healthy individual, and 3) spoke like a human being, not like someone who wanted to prove how smart he was.
